Texas to headline Bristol music festival

New Headliner for Friday: Texas

Friday night will now see Texas play instead of Travis.

Travis, who were down to play, have sent us this statement to share with you:

Due to the ongoing travel and quarantine regulations, as well as the cancellation and postponement of a number of other UK and European festivals and concerts, Travis are unable to perform at Valley Fest or any other UK shows in 2021.  Travis are greatly disappointed to be unable to tour this year and are in the process of rescheduling their July and August 2021 tour dates into 2022.

Perfectly placed to get the festival off to a flying start, Texas has sold more than 40 million albums worldwide in their thirty-year career. Valley Fest is one of the very few opportunities to see them play this year.

On the back of a hugely successful career, Texas has a new album out – Hi, which will be their 10th album. The previous one, Jump On Board, released in 2017 – debuted in the top 10 in most countries in Europe. They have had thirteen top ten singles, three number one albums and eight UK top ten albums as well as being an Ivor Novello award winner.

Even in usual times line ups can change and Covid-19 has thrown so much up into the air. Of course, we know how disappointed Travis fans are going to be and we hope to welcome the band back again in years to come.

We’re going cashless

Going cashless will mean there will be less queueing – so there will be less waiting around, less contact time between you and our staff and less opportunity for Covid to spread. In a nutshell, we’re being advised to make this move on the grounds of safety. Rest assured, it is very easy to set up and extremely secure.

How does it work?

When you arrive on site, you will exchange your ticket for a wristband (as per usual). But this will be a special wristband with a chip in it – that’s registered to you. This will act like your bank card. You will just tap your wristband against the machines (like you would with a contactless card or mobile phone).

What do I need to do?

To put money onto your wristband, we advise you set up a free cashless account. You can do this when you arrive at the festival or in advance here on our website from 21st June. Your wristband and cashless account are linked and topping up is really easy – either online or at the festival onsite bank. We will give you step by step instructions as we get closer to the event.

You can read more about it on our cashless page.
