Joining us from across the bridge, Sam Evans and Shauna Guinn of Hangfire Southern Kitchen in Barry, will be whipping up a storm on our Cooking Over Fire Stage. Expect great quality ingredients, cooked live over flames, showcasing the best of Wales and the South West, with plenty of laughs and delicious tasters to boot.
Sam and Shauna are restaurateurs, writers, TV presenters and outdoor cooking specialists that fuse elements of Southern US cooking with British ingredients.
They slammed the door on their 20-year careers to pursue a life in food together, and in just 6 years went from selling US style barbecue in a back-street boozer in Wales, to winning multiple awards, including Observer Food Monthly Awards ‘Best Restaurant’ for their own BBQ joint, Hang Fire Southern Kitchen, in 2019. They host their own BBC One show called Sam & Shauna’s Big Cookout which teaches communities how to cook big fiery feasts, now on it’s third season.
We’re extremely excited to have them as part of this year’s Valley Fest and their cooking demo’s put the fun and frolics with fire into their cooking.
