K.O.G

Friday The Yard

K.O.G (Kweku of Ghana) is a vocalist, percussionist and storyteller, combining unique Afro grooves, vocal and verbal versatility and charismatic energy.

Born in Accra, Ghana, West Africa; based in Sheffield, K.O.G’s musical journey is as rich and diverse as his own personal story, and in this setup he showcases the depth of his artistry, storytelling and poetic flow.

Justly celebrated for his high energy live shows with his earth-shattering band K.O.G & the Zongo Brigade (whose debut album came out on French label Heavenly Sweetness in April 2019 to great applause), and afro-electronic project Onipa (released on Wormfood/Mawimbi, a collaboration with Tom Excell of NubiyanTwist ), as well as collaborations with diverse artists from Damon Albarn and Congo Natty and iZem and Umoja, the K.O.G (live) format gives him a chance to create a more intimate connection with the audience – telling folk stories and bringing his offbeat poetic observations, vocal versatility, percussive textures and masterful flow to the audience alongside the infectious, high energy stage presence that has won him fans all over the world.
